Is Invisalign Right for Me?

Invisalign might be right for you if you have crowding, spaces or poorly aligned teeth. The system can also treat even minor malposition and slight rotations or mild crowding of the lower teeth, which is very common.

Invisalign may not be suitable for some complex orthodontic needs. Invisalign, like all medical devices, requires a commitment to consistently use and care for, in order to maximize results. Individuals looking for a lower-maintenance treatment might need to discuss alternatives with Dr. Galli.

To discuss Invisalign, meet with Dr. Galli for a consultation. He can examine your teeth and identify the areas that need to be improved. After getting to know more about your treatment goals, oral health and lifestyle, Dr. Galli can determine whether Invisalign is a good choice to give you the results you desire.

Treatment Details

Your Invisalign aligners will be created after Dr. Galli has determined your goals. He will take photographs and impressions of your teeth and mouth, and send them to the Invisalign laboratory, which creates a computer simulation of the whole case. Once the simulation is approved by Dr. Galli, the laboratory then creates the aligners.

You should receive your first set of aligners within a few weeks. You will get an upper aligner and lower aligner, and you will wear them for 20-22 hours per day, removing them only to eat and clean your teeth. You should practice good oral hygiene habits during treatment by brushing and flossing your teeth normally.

After about two weeks, you will return to the office for a treatment check and receive your next set of aligners. This process will repeat until the doctor is comfortable giving you more than one set at a time. Altogether, you may wear 10 to 20 sets of aligners, depending on the length of your care. Every case is unique and case length depends on the original and final positions of your teeth.

Dr. Galli will supervise your entire treatment, checking your progress periodically and answering any questions you have. After you complete Invisalign treatment, he will recommend a retainer to help you maintain your results. It is also clear and comfortable and, after a short time, is usually worn at night only.
